Katie’s Upcoming Memoir

For many years Katie Trexler thought she had it all- a high-profile job as a local television news anchor, healthy, young twins, and a nearly idyllic life with her husband in the suburbs of Denver. Then one day she gave up her dream career, believing it was the right decision for her family. She was completely unaware of the consequences that choice would have on her own happiness and well-being.

In her debut memoir, Trexler takes us through her journey attempting to maintain her identity and sense of self while also trying to satisfy expectations to be the perfect mom, wife and woman of today. Through her story, Trexler confronts the very real costs of sacrificing parts of ourselves for the people we love- a reality she faced first as a young mom and again, years later when her seemingly ideal life unexpectedly shattered.

What Do I Tell My Daughter? is an honest and authentic story of her personal struggle and the lessons she learned about inner strength, self-love, and partnership. It is for any woman, any person, who has ever lost themselves while caring for others and wants to rediscover the person they’re meant to be.

What Others Are Saying

  • "Katie Trexler has written an exceptional and deeply relatable book that speaks to the heart of so many women who navigate the constant pull between professional ambition and motherhood. What Do I Tell My Daughter is not only well written, it is honest in a way that makes you feel as if you are reading your own story reflected back at you. Katie’s voice, her experiences, and her willingness to be vulnerable create a connection that goes far beyond the page."

Nikki Brooker, Founder & CEO YANA (You Are Not Alone Mom to Mom)

  • "A brave and searingly honest story that made me think hard about the power and consequences of choice. Katie Trexler's battle-fought wisdom will resonate with women of varying ages who risk--or have risked-- sacrificing themselves for others. I'll certainly be giving a copy to my daughter."

Nancy Sharp, author of Both Sides Now: A True Story of Love, Loss and Bold Living

  • "A deeply moving and unflinchingly honest memoir about the impossible standards working mothers face and the often unspoken cost of trying to do everything well. Through her journey from news anchor to motherhood, Katie Trexler gives voice to the quiet sacrifices, lingering “what ifs,” and fierce love that define so many women’s experiences. This book stayed with me long after the final page—and it’s one I hope every mother, and daughter, will read."

Michele Clarizio, author of The Price of Truth, A Chasing Peace Novel

  • "An easy, inspirational read—one where I saw so much of myself. Having lived both as a career professional and a stay-at-home mom, I deeply related to the balancing act Katie captures so honestly. Her conversational, funny writing makes the book hard to put down. I laughed, I cried, and felt understood, and it reminded me that even when life takes unexpected turns, we’re becoming exactly the women we’re meant to be."

About Katie

Katie Trexler is a life-long storyteller who began writing newscasts and crafting poetry as a young child. She later turned her love of writing, creative spirit, and inquisitive mind into an Emmy-winning broadcast journalism career spanning over 15 years.

Like many working moms she wanted more flexibility to raise her boy/girl twins, so she left the anchor desk and shifted her professional talents to the world of public relations and communications. She still works in that industry and is passionate about “pulling back the curtain” on the intimidating world of the news media to help individuals and companies navigate the spotlight and share their stories with the world.

Katie’s first book shares her journey through career, motherhood and trying to maintain her sense of self through it all. She hopes her writing will encourage more women, men and couples to talk about the choices and sacrifices we all make for the people we love. The book is being published by She Writes Press and distributed by Simon & Schuster on October 6, 2026.

Katie lives in the Denver area with her husband — her high school crush — whom she reconnected with later in life. Her many loves include spending time with family and her adult children, early morning walks, bike rides, coffee and writing when no one else is around. She’s forever grateful for the many strong, loving and hilarious girlfriends who have supported her throughout life.

Women are typically the first to give up huge parts of themselves for other people. Hard as it can be, we need to be equally committed to caring for our own souls and well-being at the same time. When we enable ourselves to be the best humans we can be, we are better at loving, supporting and inspiring those who mean the most to us.
